23 SA companies commit to making packaging 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2025.
The South African Plastics Pact has just become our new best thing.
That’s because 23 of our now-BFF local retailers and brands have committed to four pretty epic recycling goals that will make it even easier for you to help save the world every time you Kerby:
To take action on problematic or unnecessary plastic packaging (think straws, earbuds, sweet wrappers and chip packets, to name a few)
To make sure that 100% of plastic packaging is reusable, recyclable or compostable
To ensure at least 70% of plastic packaging is effectively recycled
To make sure that there is at least 30% average recycled content in plastic packaging.
By signing the Pact, these SA companies join a global initiative to make sure packaging does not end up in the environment.
We’re all in this together, so when companies make it simpler for you to recycle by, well, making it simpler for all of us to recycle, it warms our hearts. Not that we’re saying we have more than one heart. That would be weird.
